Dynamic Business Sales

Selling a business? The buyer could be anywhere.

Our business sales division sells South African trading businesses as going concerns, confidentially, by auction or private treaty. Buyers sign a non-disclosure agreement and show proof of funds before they see the books, and they can be anywhere: our auction room takes bids online, and its sign-up takes a passport number from buyers who are not South African citizens.

Selling with us

Four steps from first call to cleared funds.

We give you a price guide and a plan before you commit to anything. What selling costs (the appraisal, the listing and the commission) is set out in the conditions of sale before you sign.

  1. 01

    Tell us what you have

A call or a form. We establish what the asset is, where it is, and what you need out of it. If auction is the wrong route for you, we will say so.

  2. 02

    Price guide and mandate

We appraise the asset, agree a reserve with you, and put a signed mandate in place. The mandate is what proves you are entitled to sell. It protects you as much as it protects the buyer.

  3. 03

    Marketing and the auction

Professional photography, a written catalogue entry, and a targeted campaign to buyers who actually bid. Then the auction itself, run by auctioneers whose job is to drive competition.

  4. 04

    Transfer and payment

We collect payment from the buyer, coordinate the transfer and report on the result. Property runs a roughly three to four week cycle from mandate to auction.

Track record

Twenty-one years of other people’s hard assets.

Government disposals, sports memorabilia, resort property. The work is varied because the discipline transfers.

  • 21+ years trading
  • SARS Customs auction October 2017
  • 120+ government vehicles One auction
  • R20m+ Legends auction 2019 turnover

A 2017 Customs auction for the South African Revenue Service. FIFA and SAFA memorabilia auctioned on behalf of the rights holders. The Legends auction turned over more than R20 million in 2019.

Why the paperwork matters

Anyone can shout numbers. The mandate is the job.

An auction is only as good as the title behind it, so we check that the person instructing the sale is entitled to instruct it before we market anything.

Ownership is checked

Before a property is marketed we confirm ownership against the deeds record. A spouse married in community of property who never signed is a sale that unwinds later. We find that first.

Mandates are signed

Nothing is advertised on a handshake. For company-owned assets held offshore we take a board resolution authorising the signatory to sell.

Vehicles are traced

Registration and eNatis checks on every vehicle, so the car on the block is the car the seller is entitled to sell.

Common questions

Dynamic Auctioneers, answered.

What does Dynamic Auctioneers sell?

Residential and commercial property, land and farms; movable assets such as vehicles, plant, machinery, office and restaurant contents, furniture, art and collectables; and the assets of deceased and insolvent estates. Whole businesses are sold through Dynamic Business Sales.

Where do you work?

Our office is in Centurion, Gauteng, and we sell assets located anywhere in South Africa. Buyers bid from wherever they are, so the location of the asset does not limit who competes for it.

Can buyers outside South Africa take part?

Yes. Our auctions take bids online, so a buyer can take part from anywhere, and the sign-up for our online auction room takes a passport number from buyers who are not South African citizens. Dynamic Business Sales offers South African businesses to buyers wherever they are, and our page for international buyers sets out the steps and what changes for a non-resident.

What does it cost to sell?

Selling carries an appraisal fee, a listing fee and commission on the sale price: all set out in writing in the conditions of sale before you commit to anything. Our selling on auction page sets out the steps.

How long does a property auction take?

Property typically runs about three to four weeks from signed mandate to auction day, plus the transfer period afterwards.

Where do I bid?

In our online auction room, where registration, FICA documents, bidding and results all live. If you have not bid before, our page on buying on auction explains how it works.

Got something to sell?

Tell us what it is and where it is. You will get a straight answer on whether auction is the right route, and what it is realistically worth.
